Tonic’s Weekly Lynx Round-up

Except this one is really more like a “Tonic’s-It’s-Been-Several-Weeks-Since-We’ve-Posted-Lynx-Round-up.” E and I have both been busy with several new projects and life ventures, but will be reviving the Tonic as our lives start to take shape again.

In the meantime, here’s a selection of articles that J has been reading and digging these past few weeks. Enjoy!

This article from the Believer, a McSweeney’s venture, on women and rock and roll music is beautifully done.

In that vein, here’s a solid round-up of female-fronted bands to check out.

piece from Mental Floss on how Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time (a Tonic favourite) changed sci-fi forever.

I had never heard of Natalia Molchanova, a woman who was widely considered the world’s greatest free diver, until I read this piece in the New York Times. She went missing during a free dive early in August at the age of 53.

I had the privilege of seeing Claudia Rankine speak at the National Book Festival two weeks ago. Check out her most recent book, Citizen, which I am currently devouring, and read this article she wrote on Serena Williams.

Bottega Veneta’s Fall RTW Collection is stunning and graphic and I love it.

E knows that Khloe is my favourite Kardashian and sent me this article on Khloe’s fitness closet. If you didn’t see her photo shoot for Complex, do yourself a favour and check it out.

The hip new shoe from Everlane that I am dying to buy. There may be a follow-up post dedicated entirely to this shoe/my love for all things Everlane.

Finally, as is tradition at the beginning of fall (aka MOTHER FUCKING GOURD SEASON), here’s a classic piece from McSweeney’s Internet Tendency.

Welcome to autumn, lovely humans.

p.s. the photo at the top of the post was taken last October in Alexandria, Virginia.
